For those of you who were/are planning to join us for the 2020 IOW Adventure, the event is still expected to take place. Sandown Airport has been working hard to make the cafe and grounds suitable for social distancing and local hotels and campsites (including our friends at Cheverton Copse Holiday Park) are open and taking bookings.
West Country Minis have been working with Red Funnel ferries for a few years now, organising reduced-rate crossings specifically for Minis.
With the support of Sandown Airport, this has helped us setup the largest Mini-only event on the island.
Every year more of the local island businesses and groups get involved, we're hoping to have some great stuff going on for 2020.
And with so much to do, new for 2020, we've put together a 'long weekend' deal with Red Funnel. So your adventure can now run from Friday to Monday!
The most important thing you need to know about the IOW Adventure event is that it's yours, not ours!
Ok, so it's got our name on and we arrange a few things but what we really want is for you to use your time on the island how you want to.
If you want to spend the weekend watching the planes taking off and landing at Sandown enjoying a drink or two at the bar, or petting the donkeys over at the sanctuary - the choice is yours.
All bookings are handled by our friends at Red Funnel. To book your discounted crossing head over to the Red Funnel website.
To give you a quick summary of what offers are avaliable, you can book a weekend crossing (Saturday or Saturday to Sunday) for £32 or a long weekend crossing (Friday to Monday) for £65.
Remember that you must be in a Mini (either modern or classic) to take advantage of this offer but you'll still be welcome at our event no matter how you arrive (you'll just have to pay a bit more to get to the island).
If you've got any special requirements (either personally or about your vehicle), be sure to let Red Funnel know.
As we get nearer to the event a couple of IOW regulars will be arranging meeting points along the main routes down to Southampton.
We usually start with a couple of meet points in and around Bristol with the final meeting point at Warminister Services before the main run. But this isn't set in stone, we're open to suggestions for both routes and meeting points - get in touch if you have some ideas or know the areas we pass through.

Not only does Sandown Airport provide us a venue for the event, they also allow our guests to camp free of charge for the entire weekend. If you're looking to keep costs down, this is a great option. You're also as close to the airports cafe and bar as you can be...which has its advantages!
If camping isn't your thing, we've been working with Cheverton Copse Holiday Park (who are located a minute or two walk from the airport) to be able to offer a discounted rate on their static caravans. Depending on your needs, for as little as £180 you can stay for the entire weekend. Full details of the options available are covered on their website.
To book one of their vans you'll need to contact them directly either by phone (01983 403161) or email (email@example.com) and quote Mini Adventure 2020
